Like a kitten again...

Iines has transformed to a kitten again. This has happened really suddenly after the sterilization, which was less than 2 weeks ago. I don't remember if she was as wild and active as a kitten, but now she is constantly playing and running (madly ;-)) around the apartment. It's really funny actually!

Lilli is stunned to see her mother act the way she is acting now! It seems that Lilli is more mature than Iines ;-) Iines is also eating more than she used to, so I'm hoping that she will gain some weight soon. (I'm afraid to even think what kind of cat Saga will be when she is sterilized.. I still remember very clearly what she was like as a kitten!!)

Iines still sleeps next to me at nights, but she is too busy to lay on my lap during the evenings. She has fully separated herself from the mummy-life and I don't think Lilli even considers her as a mother any more. Lilli is now the one to take care of Iines and Saga takes care of both of them.. Funny girls...

Seuraava koitos on kuukauden päästä Kuopiossa, jolloin Lilli alkaa olemaan 8 kuukauden ikäinen. Kuopioon lähdetään yhdelle päivälle, samaten kuin marraskuun lopulla olevaan Eryn näyttelyyn Helsinkiin. Siinä onkin sitten tämän vuoden näyttelyt, ensi vuonna Lilli on Jyväskylässä jo avoimessa :-)

Getting ready for the show on Saturday

Saturday is approaching and Lilli will get a bath today... Last time that she was washed went very well, so I'm hoping it will be as easy this time. Lilli still has very short coat, so there is no need to do much to it... A few months ago her coat felt a little soft, but now the quality (surprisingly) seems to be good! :-) Even better than Iines' coat quality, which has always been good.

Lilli weights 3,7 kg :-)) but I have to admit that she is a bit plump... However I think it's a positive thing - after all, her mother has always wanted to as thin as Naomi Campbell ;-) Mabye she will reach 4 kg before she turns 8 months, that's more than Iines has ever been, without being pregnant :-)

Iines, Lilli and Roope

It has been 5 days since Iines was sterilized and everything is going very well! Iines was very unhappy with the "dress" that she was suppose to wear for 10 days (to prevent her from doing anything to the stitches etc.) so I took the dress off on Friday... Iines hasn't done anything to the wound and is back to her normal self again. If she didn't have wound and the stitches, there would be no way of telling that she ever had any kind of surgery :-) She is eating, purring on my lap, demanding treats ALL THE TIME and sleeping on top of me at nights.

I wasn't suppose to take her outside without a coat, but she didn't want to wear it... She was out only a few minutes, so no harm done :-)

Lilli was out longer than her mother and she clearly wasn't happy about the weather! It was too windy for her :-)) And she was really upset every time a massive blast of wind came
Roope on the other hand was more than thrilled! He loves to chase the flying leafs! As you can see, his coat was flying, too :-)
Lulu suprised me and also wanted to go out :-) That visit was so short, that no pictures were taken to prove it! But she seemed happy to get a glimpse of fresh air and then she headed back in. Saga hasn't gone out since the pheasant episode, so naturally she didn't want to go this time either...

Iines is now a happy(?) neuter-lady

Iines was sterlized yesterday and is now recovering from operation. Everything went well and there were no visible signs of anything odd. I was curious to find out what the uterus looked like after she has been on the pill, but nothing unusual was found.

I have been a bit stressed out about the pills... I'm not taking any pills myself, so I'm not so happy giving them to my cats either. Iines was first on the pill for 3 months before the first kittens, then I was forced to put her back on the pill when the kittens were 10 weeks old and she had already had one heat and was soon starging another one. That time she was on the pill for 4 months before the second kittens and now again little over 3 months.

I know it's probably not the wisest move to sterilize her, but still... she didn't seem to get any weight even though she was on the pill (on the contrary - she was losing weight instead). According to FIFe rules, I would have had the possibility to mate her for the third time anytime I liked, but she wasn't ready for another litter.

It would have been nice to get more kittens from her, but things don't always go as planned. At least she had two litters and I still have Lilli. Some people suggested to me that I should think about putting an implant to her, so that she would kind of be "neuter" for some time and then fertile again. I'm not saying NEVER, but at the moment that's definately not something I would want to try. After all, I would want any implants on me either, so why would I want to put something like that in my pet? OF COURSE there are benefits that maybe useful in ones breeding...

There are many things why I shouldn't have sterilized Iines - and many things why I think this was the right thing to do. The main thing is, that Lilli is already bigger and at the moment also heavier than her mother. I'm hoping that she will carry on with the lines in the future.

Iines is kind of my favourite cat - always so kind and affectionate - so I'm hoping she will get more weight, more coat and be a beautiful neuter lady :-) I'm probably taking her to some shows next year.
