Saga and Häjy

Saga and Häjy have been very active today :-) Tomorrow Häjy is going home and I'll keep my thumbs up that there will be kittens in the beginning of November (week 44).

Finally! Saga is waiting for Häjy...

After (almost) 7 months! Saga is finally getting a heat. It started yesterday and Häjy may be coming to visit her today. For Saga the third day has been the best and because I'm at work from 9-16, I think it's best to drive to Laukaa today and maybe tomorrow they can get it on ;-)

Iines is trying to be the male that Saga needs *laughs* In the morning she bit Saga's neck and tried to be on top of her. It really looked quite stange that such a little kitten was on Saga's back...

I took Roope at my parents house in the morning, because the last thing I need is him assisting Saga in any way. He has done it before and now I think nothing happened between them. I guess Roope will spend the night there if my parents allow him to be there. It could be quite a stress for him to be home and I don't want him to stess at all.. that could get his urine problems going again.

My plan is to also separate Iines and Lulu from each other, because Lulu can't stand Iines at the moment. Maybe it's best to keep them apart, that they won't attack each other if they wonder about the noices in the bathroom...

I'm a bit surprised that Saga got the heat so suddenly after the show. I was hoping that the show would trigger it, but this was faster than I thought. Nice going thoug, I have a meeting with a teacher 7:30 AM, so I'm guessing I'll be quite tired if I can't get any sleep at night...

If Saga's date with Häjy is succesful, the kittens would be born around november :-)

Rurok's show 26.8.

Saga and Iines attended to Rurok's show today. Both girls had competitors and today was their day and they both won.

Saga got her third CAGCIB, so there is still a long way to her becoming GIC. But there is no hurry. I would like her to have her kittens this year, so that's our priority - not shows. Saga was sent "home" when best in variety was chosen and she got to sleep in her cage rest of the day.

Iines won her competition too and surprisingly she was also nominated! Iines behaved really nicely the whole day :-) She was also very nicely in the panel, but no votes :-)

Saga's daughter Täplä got her second CAC and there is a possibility that she will get the Champion titel next week! Sharma is also one CAC away from being Champion. Hopefully both will get their titles this year.

My vacation is now over so tomorrow I'll head back to work... So I'm off to bed now, maybe I'll add some pictures from the show tomorrow.

New pictures of Saga

I finally got some pictures of Saga :-) Usually she's not so keen on posing for the camera, but this time she managed to look pretty good!

She really has a nice coat at the moment! She also had a nice coat a year ago, when she had her kittens. We laughed then that she wanted to look good in the kittenpictures ;-) but obviously she likes to grow her coat during summertime.. strange ;-)

Rurok's show approaching

We washed Saga's tail on Wednesday and it looks very good now :-) Today I was helping Marja to wash Täplä and we also washed Athene, even though she isn't going to any shows. So now all I have to do is to cut Saga's nails and pack everything.

I think I'm going to go stop by in the show tomorrow, but Saga and Iines are going only on Sunday.
It's really exciting to see what the judge thinks of my girls, they - of course- have the same judge. Täplä has Pia Nyman and Igge is going to Saetre's table. So it will be an interesting show!

After the show in Tampere next weekend, Iines is going to take a break from shows. I will bring her to Porvoo in the end of September and then maybe to Turku in November. She is developing slowly so there is no point in dragging her to every single show. Next year we will start hunting certificates, let's see how that works out :-D

Lulu, part 2 ;-)

Well... as soon as I said that Lulu hasen't been her old self, she soon started to wash Saga :-) Those two were so cute together, that I had to take pictures. In the last picture "intruder" strikes between them :-D And of course my camera's battery died just then.

Lulu's day

For a while Lulu has seemed a bit depressed :-( Maybe it's because of Iines, maybe it's because Roope is constantly bullying her.. who knows?

Over the weekend I had a few messages from my parents and they told me that they had taken Lulu outside and she had been really really happy. I was surprised that they even managed to get Lulu outside, she rarely wants to go and if she goes, she doesn't want to walk at all. But this time things had been different and Lulu had been out both days.

Today I decited that it was time Lulu and I went to visit my parents. They live only a few kilometres from my apartment, so Lulu didn't have to spend much time in the car. She was a bit suspicious at first ;-) But she was clearly happy that she got to go out a few times and we played and cuddled her. She doesn't even play any more when we are home; because Iines is too fast and always interrupts us.

It was nice to see Lulu the way that she used to be. She talked a lot and was purring LOUD all the time. Now she is happily sleeping in the balcony. I think I will have to start taking her out more, even though she doesn't seem to like it. Maybe in time she will be more willing to walk there. I guess my father is more patient than me ;-) because I don't have the patience to stand still for a long time in the yard. But he even managed to get Lulu walking, I don't know how he did it, but I can't seem to do the same.

It has been quite rough to Lulu to be a neuter. Before she was sterilized, she was on her way to becoming the queen of the house, and suddenly she has lost her position and Roope is trying to secure his place by picking on her. This really makes me sad, but I'm hoping that things will cool down. Roope isn't as mean to Lulu as he was to Tigru.. And they were friends before. So I'm hoping that some improvment will happen.

Lulu wasn't afraid of anything before, but now she seems to watch her back all the time. She doesn't want to play with Iines and I think that Iines being a way for a few days was good for the adults. They got to be by themselves and my parents came to visit them twice a day. Thing seem to be calmer now :-)

(all the pictures taken before she was sterilized and they were all enjoying life together)

Tallinn, part 2

I just got home from and I'm so tired. The whole day has went by with a hurry... In the morning we went to the breakfast at 7 AM and there were "a few" others too. We waited about 20 min before we even got anything to eat. We were suppose to be at the show by 8, so Veikko was forced to drive very quickly so that we were there on time.

After that we waited over about hour to the judging to begin. It was meant to start 8:30 but... Iines was 23. cat on Sizova's table, so I had no hurry with her. She just loves the hammock that I bought her from Surok. She spent the day sleeping in it, her head towards the ventilator that I bought just for this trip. So at least she wasn't melting, although it was very hot in the hall both days. Today wasn't as warm as yesterday, so it was nicer to people and especially to cats.

First it was Igge's turn to go to the judge. He had Zagorskaja today and Igge got his 8th CACE out of 3 males. Another male from group IV was BIV so he didn't go further. Iffe was also judged by Zagorskaja and she recognized them as brothers at once :-)

Group VI was judged by Olga Sizova and it was really an interesting group. Three cats in class 1; two males and one female. One female in class 3, two males in class 5 and one female in the same class. And then there were 3 neuters, two females in class 11 and Iines in class 12. So quite a lot of cats! (the whole amount of category II was 120, quite big for a show in Tallinn and a lot of forestcats).

Marja's Leevi (GIC Deimos CrisCraft Sportsman) had a competitor and he won :-) It was his 8th CAGCIB and so he became Grand International Champion! Congratulations Marja!! After Leevi there was SmileTail's Pippi-Lotta who got her last CAGCIB too and became GIC! Congratulations Päivi!!

The BIV was chosen between a male from class 1 and Leevi - and Leevi was the best. Leevi was also nominated later, so a great weekend for Marja :-D

The judge didn't like Iines so much, in the judgment it says that she even has high set ears.. big but high set. I have to say that I don't agree... The main thing was the size. I admit that she could be bigger, but she is developing slowly. So the BIV went to a girl in class 11.

Iines was once again the only kitten (as on Saturday) so she was nominated. Since we were in a hurry to leave, Iines didn't have time to go to the panel at all. But I think that she had enough experience for one weekend and there was no point for her to be there :-) Of course I'm happy about the nominations, but as I said: they came for free since she had no competitors.

Veikko's Nagge got his first CAGPIB, but nomination went to a older neuter male.

It was a good day for us :-) We all got what we came for.

Kiitos Marja ja Veikko mukavasta matkasta!! Stroomiin ei kyllä enää mennä, mutta muuten oli oikein onnistunut reissu ja hauskaa oli :-)

Tallinn, part 1

Greetings from Tallinn :-) I can't write much, because it costs 1 eek /minute to use the internet in our hotel.. It's not much, but I still think it's too much.

Iines had her first show today and she behaved really nicely! In the morning she was anxiously to leave her cage but by the time she went to Zagorskaja's table, she was quite calm. Zagorskaja liked her a lot, but a girl from class 11 was BIV. Zagorskaja wrote good judgment to Iines :-) She would have hoped her to have a better coat quality, but otherwise didn't say a bad word. She especially liked Iines' ears and long tail. Iines still has really short coat, so I'm hoping that she will start growing it soon.

Results from today (our car ;-)):

Iines EX1, NOM
Igge EX2(3)
Iffe CAPE
Nagge CAPIG - > IP
Leevi CAGCIB, BIV, NOM

Iines behaved really nicely in the panel! Thank you Jenni for showing her so nicely :-)

Paljon onnea Täplä, Sharma, Kinuski ja Indi!

Sagan lapsukaiset täyttävät jo vuoden 18.8! Onnea toivottaen, Saga & Minna + muut karvatassut :-)

Saga's children celebrate their first birthday 18.8. We wish them all the best :-)

PS. Within half an hour my ride will hopefully pick me up and we go to Helsinki and from there with Seacat to Tallinn. If our hotel has a computer, maybe I'll post some shownews on Saturday.

New curtains for Iines

I almost finished the curtains that I'm doing for Iines. Only some finishing to do and they are ready for Tallinn. They are probably the most cutest curtains that I've ever done; they even have lace in them! They are made from golden velour and the lace gives it something extra ;-) Iines isn't exactly a princess-type cat, but who cares :-D Everyone know how I love pink, cute skirts etc. and this goes well with it.

I'm also doing curtains for Igge :-D But no worries, they don't have any lace in them... Otherwise Igge could get an indentity crise ;-) By the way, the handsome guy was visiting a vet today and was also weighted there. The scale stopped at 6,49 kg! Not bad for a nearly 3 year-old male. It will be interesting to see what he will be as a neuter!

Judges' division for Tallinn and Rurok

Judges' division for Tallinn came yesterday and Iines and Saga have Elena Zagorskaja on Saturday and Olga Sizova on Sunday. Kat II was divided to 4 judges, so I guess it will be and ok sized show :-) I have promised to take one cute forestcatgirl to judging both days because the owner isn't coming to the show, and of course she has Sizova on Saturday and Zagorskaja on Sunday ;-) Mut I think I will manage just fine.

I have entered Iines and Saga to Rurok's show in 26.8. They will have Kai Ruonala as a judge there. It will be the last day of my vacation, how can this holiday go by so fast?? After Rurok Iines will go to Tampere with Kalinda. That judges' division should appear next week.

Only a few days until our trip begins. I have been trying to write my thesis today.. Blah. I have about 20 pages and that was the part that I've had ready for about 2 years now... So lots of work to do. AND I haven't even started to interview people yet. I'm trying to get most of the writing done by end of this week, so that I could present it to my teacher next week and maybe interview people in the beginning of next month.

I also have a lot of other work to be done, so it's going to be a busy week.... Marja and Veikko are going to pick me up around 11 AM on Friday, so before that everything should be done :-) (yes, I know it's not likely I'll get it done by then, but I can always try... after all, my goal is to get the thesis accepted, not make anything spectacular)

Tallinn approaching

In less than a week we go to Tallinn. It's nice to go there, it will be my only "proper" holidaytrip. Two weeks of my holiday have passed without me even noticing it! Next week I'm suppose to do some school essays :-( Boring. I think I have to go to the library or to our school to do them, there is no way I'm going to get anything done at home ;-) And maybe I can scan some old photos at school. I realized that I don't have any old pictures on my computer, so it would be nice to scan even some of them.

It will be very interesting and a bit nervous too to take Iines to her first show. At first I was only going to take her to Tallinn because actually I don't have any cats who need certs from abroad.. Then I figured out that it could be quite stressful for Iines to travel alone, and Saga was chosen to be her companion. It's nicer for Iines to have Saga with her in the hotel etc. I'm not going to put them in a same cage, even though with Saga and Lulu it worked fine.

It will be interesting to see how she will behave in the show. She will have her next show a week from Tallinn, only one day in Vantaa. And after that we will go to Tampere for a day and then she will have a break. I haven't got her pedigree from SRK yet, but I hear that import -pedigrees have taken quite a long time. But of course I can show her with her registration number fron NRR. So no problem with that.

It seems that Iines has grown within this last week :-) She has gained some weight even though it's still too hot in here. The other cats don't eat much when it's this hot, but the little one need to have food :-)

I have been sleeping late the whole week (or at least trying to ;-)) Iines wants me to wake up at 6 AM and since I don't want to wake up then, she's trying her best to get me up :-) She tries to talk to me with her pathetic little voice, she wants to be cuddled, she tries to lick my face and roll over me etc. :-D But nothing works. Today I finally got up 11 AM, so 4 hours of worthless trying for Iines ;-) And then when I wake up, she is in a so much hurry to go to the balcony, get food etc. Adorable little kitten.

I was surfing in the internet yesterday when I found internetpages where was a relative to Iines; IC Lindbrekkas Sirikitt, DM :-) It was nice to see that she is still in good condition (11 years) and see pictures of her and her offsprings. I hope that Sirikitt will have many more years :-) And that Shamicka will live a long and healthy life like her :-)

Pictures from my phone, finally..

Finally I have a usb cable and I was able to get the photos from my phone.. Some of them aren't so great, but the one I most like is the one with Roope and Iines :-)

Iines turns 5 months tomorrow :-)

Rest of the pictures taken todya can be found in the gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/minna.viljanen/Iines5Kk5Months

Iines really knows how to pose :-) Too bad that my camera isn't very good so the quality of the pictures is low.

It's too hot already, 29,5C inside! :-(

It's so hot that it's almost impossible to do anything around here. The sun doesn't shine here in the morning, but by noon it has turned to this side and me and the cats are melting inside. I hope it will cool down soon...

All the cats are just laying somewhere under the ventilators. Iines is the only one who manages to do something, but she hasen't got a long, hot coat yet.

I tried to cool the cats down a bit, but as usual, Roope is the only one who gets the idea... He loves to keep the wet towel in his back, but the girls didn't quite get it.. Iines wore it for a while, but then decited that it was a horrible horrible thing ;-) And she soon got rid of it.

By the way, Iines was stuck by a bee last week :-( Fortunately nothing happened. I gave her the medicin and then removed the prickle from her lower lip and after that she was fine again. She of course had tried to eat the bee and then it managed to stuck her. No swelling, no nothing. Maybe the medicin worked so fast, it is originally ment for snakebites, but workes on bees too.

Häjy's HCM test and a few pictures

Rest of the pictures can be found in this gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/minna.viljanen/Elokuu2007

Yesterday Häjy was HCM tested and so was his mother Emma, halfsister Lotta and Emma's grandchild Milla. They all had normal hearts and Emma's result was very good for her age (6 years), no signs of HCM could be seen.
